Reflecting on the past 12 months, I can confidently say that 2018 has been a year of growth.
Not just of my photography company, which I started in March of this year, but of self growth. I learned that there is power in saying “no”, that I can do things that I set my mind to, and that self care is crucial to staying sane. Above all, I learned that comparing yourself to someone else is bullshit because every single person on this planet has self doubt that they have to work through.
My photography business has been both my most discernible source of stress, as well as the root of a sense of accomplishment unlike any other. Here are 10 of my favorite photos that I took this year.
10. Ashley + Jimmy’s adventure engagement session
9. Styled elopement in the NC mountains
8. Nidia + Rafael’s golden hour engagement shoot in Charlotte, NC
7. Paris’s bridal portraits at Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden
6. Beach engagement photos with Landyn + Trey
5. Paris + Alex’s skyline engagement session in Charlotte, NC
4. Becca + Bryan’s adventure engagement session at the Craggy Pinnacle trail off of the Blue Ridge Parkway
3. Romantic maternity shoot on Boyd Mountain Christmas Tree Farm
2. Gia + Will in Sunset Cliffs, San Diego
Kathy + Jonathan moments before being presented to their guests at the reception as Mr. & Mrs. Fine!
Well, that’s a wrap. Whatcha got for me, 2019?
Getting ready to do a couple’s photoshoot on the beach, or deciding what to wear for your shoot in the sand? Here are a few ways to make your ocean-side photo session unique!
For this Lake Norman photoshoot, we explored a park Landyn’s mom used to take her to when she was little. It was a hot one (90 degrees!!), but there was the perfect golden light coming through the trees. Take a look!
Kate said “I do not do heights” so instead of hiking up, we hiked down! Looking Glass Falls was stunning, and is the perfect place to go for a photoshoot… if you know when to go.
The last time Becca and I went hiking together, we were climbing a “14er” in Denver, Colorado. This time, she was in a beautiful dress, hand-in-hand with her future husband, and the hike was just a bit less strenuous! We had a great time—there are photos to prove it! (lol)
I had so much fun exploring with Ashley and Jimmy. This was my first time climbing Black Balsam Knob in the daylight, so it was as new to me as it was to them. On the way down, they kept saying how much fun they had on the shoot, and it shows in their photos. Check them out!
